What is KYC and why does it apply to me?
KYC stands for “Know Your Customer” and is used to provide a secure experience for our users. It confirms that the people sending and receiving funds are who they say they are, which helps prevent fraud and financial abuse, and is required for handling funds.
What happens to my ID after I upload it?
Your ID goes directly to Stripe's verification system, not to Ripit's servers. Stripe uses it only to confirm your identity and stores it under their data-security standards.
What do I need to complete verification?
A valid U.S. government-issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, or state ID)
A device with a camera, or a clear photo of your ID
Your legal name and date of birth must match your ID exactly
You must be 18 years of age or older
You must be a US resident
How long does verification take?
Typically a couple of minutes, and almost always under 15 minutes. First-time verifications can take longer if Stripe needs a second check. Contact [email protected] if you are unable to progress through the KYC process.
What if my verification is rejected?
The usual causes are a blurry or cropped photo, a name that doesn't match your account, or an expired ID. You'll be prompted to retry. If it keeps failing, contact [email protected].
