Why the name has to match
Ripit is a collector platform, and every payment method on your account (i.e. credit/debit card, Apple Pay, bank account, etc.) must match the legal name on your verified ID. This isn't a Ripit specific hurdle; it's a standard identity verification and anti-money laundering requirement, and it's how we help keep accounts secure from takeover and fraud.
Ripit only supports a personal bank account matching your verified ID. Ripit does not support business, LLC, or trade name accounts for payouts.
Adding your bank account
Go to Account → Billing → Add Bank Account/Replace Bank Account.
Follow on screen prompts and enter details exactly as they appear with your bank.
Your bank account holder name is checked to ensure it matches your verified ID.
Match → approved and ready for withdrawals. Mismatch → you'll see a verification failure.
If verification fails: the #1 cause is a shortened name or nickname
Most failures aren't real mismatches, they're a shortened first name, missing middle name, or maiden/married name inconsistency (e.g. ID says "Robert James Smith," bank says "Rob Smith").
Before contacting support:
Check the exact legal name on your verified ID in your Ripit account.
Check your bank's account holder name (online banking or a recent statement).
Compare them closely, nicknames and missing middle names are the most common issue.
If your bank has the shortened version, update your name with your bank first, then re-add the account.
If everything matches exactly and it still fails, contact support.
FAQ
Why do all my payment methods need to match my ID?
It's a core anti-fraud control. Mismatched names are one of the most common ways stolen cards or fraudulent accounts get used, so we require consistency across everything tied to your account.
Can I use a joint account?
Yes, as long as your legal name is one of the listed holders. These accounts may require additional review. Accounts held solely in someone else's name are not accepted.
Can I use an LLC or business bank account?
No, payouts require a personal bank account matching your verified ID.
Why can't support just override this?
Name matching is a security control that Ripit and its payment processor have put in place specifically to prevent fraudulent activity and to ensure collector trust. Our support team can't bypass any of our security requirements on request. It protects against account takeover, including cases where the person contacting support isn't the legitimate account holder.
